Fighting For an Economy that works for ALL of us Organizing to VOTE
For Democracy Against Autocracy (at home and abroad)
Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Historic Nomination to the Supreme Court Confirmation Hearing
President Biden goes to Poland to meet with Ukraine Refugees & speak to the world
Midterm Election campaigns have begun, and the Democrats control of the House & Senate is at stake
Pro-tax millionaires launching protests as Tax Season begins
To win in these decisive battles ahead, we MUST keep organizing.
Take Action.
Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson is an extraordinarily well-qualified Supreme Court nominee, who has already been confirmed by the Senate on a bipartisan basis three times. She is currently a judge on our nation’s second-highest court and has more years of experience as a trial court judge than any sitting Supreme Court justice. If confirmed, she would be only the second sitting justice with experience at all levels of the federal court system. As the first Black woman and first former public defender ever to serve as a justice, she would bring a critical new perspective to the Court.
The Senate should confirm her without delay.
2022 elections are here & it is going to take all of us – organizing together – to register voters & get them out to vote for the candidates that will uphold democracy & move our country forward.
“The worker shortage has been a hallmark of the pandemic economy – and it’s far from getting resolved. In February, US businesses had 11.3 million job openings to fill, with over 4.4 million Americans quitting their jobs.” Learn More There are some people that are quitting for personal reasons, however, the crux of the problem is unfair wages across the board. The Raise the Wage Act would gradually raise the federal minimum wage to $15/hr and abolish the subminimum wage for tipped workers. This bill is particularly important to restaurant workers because nationwide people in our sector are paid as little as $2.13. We must protect and lift up the most marginalized in the restaurant sector and ensure that tipped workers are not left behind.
An Economic Update.
  • Americans Receiving Unemployment Benefits at 50-Year Low:
  • New unemployment claims remain low. The number of people on unemployment insurance is the lowest since 1970 – more than 50 years.
  • We’ve created over seven million jobs, including the largest year of job growth in American history, and unemployment is down to 3.8%.
  • Fighting Putin’s Price Hike: President Biden and Democrats in Congress continue to stand up to President Putin’s war on Ukraine and democracy, and his price hike on Americans at the pump.
Tax Day & Creating a Fairer Tax System.
The Biden administration’s FY2023 budget includes a version of a Billionaires Income Tax that many of us have been advocating for! It will require billionaires to pay a minimum 20% tax rate on all of their income, including income from wealth gains like stocks and other assets. This is a big deal–a decision made by the President himself to help create a fairer tax system and raise $360 billion over ten years to improve working families’ lives.
