As we approach the holidays, we are on a knife’s edge. We have the possibility of the greatest investment in our lifetime’s to improve people’s lives — addressing child poverty, cutting health care and other costs, investing in climate, possibly ensuring that most undocumented immigrants will not have to fear deportation, providing a downpayment on family and medical leave, changing the narrative from trickle-down economics to having the wealthy pay more of their fair share, creating millions of good-paying union jobs–and more. The bill will LOWER costs for child care, utilities, prescription drugs, and more, addressing inflation! It will create good-paying union jobs. It will make the wealthiest pay more of their fair share and not increase taxes on the rest of us.
We face opposition that is pushing back this progress and threatens so much of the advances we have made in the last 50 years or more. In the same week, we faced Kenosha and the verdict favoring Kyle Rittenhouse AND we have the Charlottesville trial challenging the financial basis of the Proud Boys, AND we have the Georgia decision acknowledging that those who killed Ahmaud Abery were guilty of murder.

On democracy, on racial inequality, on economic inequality, on climate–We have much further to go. For that, we need the political willpower to achieve it. Joe Manchin was right about one thing–IF we want more liberal (progressive) policies, we need to elect more progressives. This remarkable movement for democracy and justice has made it possible to elect a President, House, and Senate (by the barest margins) that may make all of this possible with extraordinary leadership, responding to this movement. And this remarkable movement still needs to keep moving forward to ensure we have the vote for this most significant investment. No circular firing squads. On-going organizing. And keeping love at our center for this broader movement.
I am so thankful to be part of this movement for democracy and justice for ALL with all of you. And thankful that we keep our eyes on the real enemies of our movement and give thanks to those who are working to move us forward against enormous opposition because all of our lives depend on it. If we organize, we can change this world. Thank you all for being part of the progressive mobilization, committed to organizing and changing this world for the better with love at the center.

We’re able to move forward because PEOPLE are organizing!
And to win in these decisive battles ahead, we need to keep organizing.

Now that the House has passed the Build Back Better Act, the Senate must swiftly bring it to a vote. There’s no room for error — and to make sure that it passes with every climate provision intact, we need your help.

We are using this social toolkit to encourage Senators who have supported immigration to keep their promise. They must get the job done this year, and it’s critical we amplify their commitments and continue to advocate for immigration this year. This is our moment, and we will leave no stone unturned.

Ensuring access to the ballot box is critical to the survival of our democracy. The Freedom to Vote Act – sponsored by Sen. Joe Manchin – is a bold and transformative legislative package that would create national standards to protect our freedom to vote, get big money out of politics, combat partisan election subversion, and guarantee that congressional districts are drawn to give fair representation for all. To get this passed we will likely need filibuster reform.

As of September 1, Texas’ extreme ban on abortion (SB 8) is in effect. SB 8 bans abortion before many people know they’re pregnant and encourages vigilantism by offering a bounty to anyone who successfully sues someone who helps a pregnant person seeking abortion care. We can’t sit on the sidelines and let this assault on our reproductive freedom go unanswered. Act now and demand your member of Congress pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) and protect the legal right to abortion for every body across the country.
