Get Involved! Volunteer Blue! | Heather joins The Rick Smith Show (at 1:01:10) to talk about the new Volunteer Blue Organizing. Volunteer Blue is a coalition of sixteen pro-democracy organizations that specialize in recruiting and mobilizing volunteers. Volunteering also doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment; if everyone puts in just a few hours, it can be enough to change an election outcome – and protect reproductive freedom for a generation. Three Trump-aligned attorneys have pleaded guilty to felony charges of participating in an effort to make false statements to Georgia lawmakers about election fraud: Jenna Ellis. Sidney Powell. Kenneth Chesebro. “Their pleas may reshape the case against Trump, supplying prosecutors with testimony from some of his closest advisers, who are now admitting for the first time that some of their actions crossed the line into criminality.”

America’s Top Generals: Donald Trump is “Dangerous” and “Unfit” to Be Commander-in-Chief
Donald Trump has proven that he is too dangerous to lead the United States on the world stage. Now more than ever, we need tested leadership with deep global relationships and an ability to mobilize allies, as Joe Biden has done time and again.
Top American military generals – including those who worked for Donald Trump – have condemned the disgraced former president’s reckless behavior on the world stage and slammed his dangerous foreign policy agenda:
-
Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley expressed that he “was certain that Trump had gone into a serious mental decline in the aftermath of the election, with Trump now all but manic, screaming at officials and constructing his own alternate reality about endless election conspiracies,”
-
After Trump accused him of treason, General Milley said his comments were “also directed at the institution of the military,”
-
Former Trump defense secretary, retired General James Mattis said Trump “has no moral compass” and was “dangerous” and “unfit” for office,
-
Trump directed Mattis “to do something that I thought went beyond stupid to felony stupid, strategically jeopardizing our place in the world and everything else,”
-
Trump’s former chief-of-staff, retired Marine Gen. John Kelly called Trump “A person who admires autocrats and murderous dictators. A person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law,”
-
Retired four-star Army General Barry McCaffrey said that he believes that President Trump is a “serious threat to US national security,”
-
Former commander of American forces in Afghanistan General John Allen said Trump’s threats of military force against peaceful protesters may be “the beginning of the end of the American experiment.”

Enough is Enough. Lewiston Strong.
Moms Demand Action: “After a mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine killed 18 people and wounded 13 in the deadliest mass shooting of 2023, Maine federal lawmakers Rep. Jared Golden, Sen. Angus King, and Sen. Susan Collins called for strengthening our nation’s gun safety laws. In a press conference yesterday, Rep. Jared Golden, a Marine veteran, reversed his previous stance on an assault weapons ban, saying, “the time has now come for me to take responsibility for this failure” and called on Congress to “ban assault rifles like the one used by the sick perpetrator of this mass killing in my hometown of Lewiston, Maine.” During the same press conference, Republican Senator Susan Collins said the shooting was the “worst mass shooting that the state of Maine has ever experienced” and called for restrictions on high-capacity magazines.”
“Corporate Bullsh*t: Exposing the Lies and Half-Truths That Protect Profit, Power, and Wealth in America” is a must-read book for anyone interested in protecting and expanding American democracy. As co-authors Nick Hanauer, Joan Walsh, and Donald Cohen explain, the representatives of political and business interests have lied for centuries, saying anything to protect their power and profits—and these falsehoods often follow the same rhetorical patterns.
Structured around a sampling of absurd lies told over the years, the book identifies six patterns of falsehoods that have thwarted progress —and continue to do so — on issues like climate change, social inequality, voting rights, and civil rights: (1) It’s not a problem; (2) The free market knows best; (3) It’s your fault; (4) It’s a job killer; (5) You’ll only make it worse; and (6) It’s socialism.
Here you’ll find tobacco CEOs extolling the health benefits of cigarettes, and sweatshop owners moralizing on the character-building qualities of child labor. The authors use the liars’ own words to convict them—and by extension, expose those telling the same lies today.
