President Biden has signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law. It will lower healthcare and energy costs for millions of Americans while making corporations and wealthy tax cheats pay fairer taxes. 

• In addition to lowering prescription drug prices for millions of older Americans on Medicare, the Inflation Reduction Act makes the Affordable Care Act more affordable for 13 million people who otherwise would face higher premiums or loss of coverage. During the pandemic, billion-dollar corporations raked in historic profits while paying lower tax rates than working people. 
• The Inflation Reduction Act will make corporations pay a minimum 15% corporate tax on the profits they report to their shareholders.
• For the first time since the modern era of climate politics began more than 30 years ago, the U.S.A. can credibly claim to be a leader on climate change. Get a sense on how urgent climate action is with this NASA tool

This means that corporations like Amazon, Exxon, Netflix, and more will no longer be able to get away with paying zero in taxes while making massive profits.

Student Debt Relief.

 According to the White House, the Student Debt Relief Plan’s action would:

• Provide relief to up to 43 million borrowers, including cancelling the full remaining balance for roughly 20 million borrowers;
• Cut monthly payments in half for undergraduate loans and hold schools accountable when they hike up prices;
• Help the most vulnerable borrowers, with nearly 90% of the relief going to borrowers earning less than $75,000 per year;
• Enable the average borrower to save more than $1,000 per year on loan payments; typical borrowers will see loan payments cut in half.
